    Dividing Fractions

    Result

To divide one simple fraction (the dividend) by another (the divisor), write the division as a product of the dividend times the reciprocal of the divisor (obtained by flipping its numerator and denominator). Now multiply the resulting numerators and denominators and write them as a new fraction. If desired, this quotient fraction can then be reduced to lowest terms by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor.
