It can be tough for student athletes to keep their grades up with their busy schedules of school and sports. In order to keep their head straight on and off the field here are some tips that student-athletes can use to help them with their grades.
Stick With A Routine: Keeping a daily routine allows student athletes to keep their work, practice and social life in order. It’s also helpful for them to create to-do lists and stick to them. These lists will help them prioritize things that need to be accomplished first.
Get Adequate Sleep: During the sports season, it’s important for athletes to get eight hours of sleep. Without sleeping, their lack of energy will shine through during practice and can affect the rest of their team. It will also affect their ability to focus in the classroom. Since student athletes need all of the energy they can get to tackle school, practice and then homework, they must be properly rested.
Develop Relationships: It’s important for student athletes to develop a relationship with their coaches and teachers. If they’re having a hard time juggling work and sports, speaking to their coaches and teachers will work in their favor. Keeping open communication will only benefit them both on and off the field.
Give It All They Got: It’s so important for all student-athletes to give it their all everyday. Whether they had an awful day or not, they can’t let what happens on the field affect them in the classroom. They should apply their work ethic and determination in sports to their focus in the classroom, allowing them to be the best student and athlete they can be.
