Winter break is quickly approaching! And if you’re looking for a fun place to travel with your family, why not make it educational too? Visiting places with lots of history is a great way to ensure you child keeps their mind sharp on their break from school. Pack your bags and hit the road to see these top educational places over the holiday vacation:

Independence Hall-Pennsylvania:  Philadelphia is packed with so much important history. Independence Hall is the building where both the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted. Not only will your family learn a lot about our country’s government and history, but you can also make it fun! Surround yourself with the spirits of America’s founding fathers by taking a Philadelphia Ghost Tour that winds past important landmarks like Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.

The Freedom Trail-Massachusetts: Who needs a social studies book when you can learn about Colonial history from an 18th-century ship captain while parading around Boston’s waterfront? The Freedom Trail is a 2.5-mile-long path that travels through downtown Boston, Massachusetts, and passes by 16 locations significant to the history of the United States. Stops along the trail include simple explanatory ground markers, graveyards, notable churches and buildings, and a historic naval frigate.

Colonial Williamsburg- Virginia: Colonial Williamsburg is a living-history museum and private foundation presenting part of a historic district in the city of Williamsburg, Virginia. Spanning 301 acres, the Historic Area includes  buildings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries along with Colonial Revival structures and more recent reconstructions. The Historic Area is an interpretation of a colonial American city, with houses restored or re-created buildings related to its colonial and American Revolutionary War history.
