In algebra, a period is a number that can be written an integral of an algebraic function over an algebraic domain. More specifically, a period is a real number r = integral_(P(x_1, ..., x_n)>=0) Q(x_1, ..., x_n) d x_1 ...d x_n where P is a polynomial and Q is a rational function on R^n with rational coefficients.
