    Primary Representation

    Definition

Let π be a unitary representation of a group G on a separable Hilbert space, and let R(π) be the smallest weakly closed algebra of bounded linear operators containing all π(g) for g element G. Then π is primary if the center of R(π) consists of only scalar operations.
